Agresen Ki Baoli – Lost in the city

Agresen Ki Baoli is a Archeological Survey of India (ASI) protected monument located on Hailey Road, near KG Marg, Connaught Place. It’s a 60-metre long and 15-metre wide step well built by Raja Agresen.

Hidden amidst tall buildings and traffic noise, this place once bustling with life is now in an utter state of ruin. Its ticketless entry failing to do any justice to its existence. It attracts an occasional traveller, school children, couples and few office goers from nearby. Mostly inhabited by pigeons and bats, it gives a very haunted feel to the place which is open from 9am – 5pm.

It’s difficult to imagine a historical monument right in the heart of New Delhi but not many know about it.

You can reach Agresan Ki Baoli either by Auto from Connaught Place, or the closest Metro Station is Barakhamba.
